Pilgrim’s Investment Will Help Fund Renovation to Thrift Store into a Family Shelter

A Pilgrim’s gift of $200,000 will help the Athens Salvation Army to renovate its current thrift store into a six-unit Center of HOPE emergency shelter. The center will also provide three commercial washer and dryers, an industrial kitchen, meeting spaces, restrooms and office space for an onsite caseworker.

In addition to serving local families in need of shelter, this facility will also house the Hope Learning Center. The Hope Learning Center will serve the sector of the homeless population by restoring hope through discipleship and supportive services that transition them into employment, homes, and a wholesome spiritual lifestyle.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented economic challenges to our state, as farmers face decreased demand and restaurants and other local businesses have scaled back operations. As we continue our fight to protect the lives and livelihoods of all Georgians, I am grateful for Pilgrim's support to provide these critical relief funds to communities across the Peach State. Working with our great partners – like Pilgrim's – in the private sector, I am confident that we can continue to support the hard working Georgians in our state and secure a safer, healthier, and more prosperous future on the road ahead.
