Pilgrim’s Announces Recipients of Hometown Strong Funding in Gainesville, Ga.

Pilgrim’s is providing an update on how its Hometown Strong funds are being invested in Gainesville, Ga., to support the community’s future. In September 2020, Pilgrim’s announced a $795,000 investment in the community.Through Pilgrim’s Hometown Strong initiative, the City of Gainesville received $785,000 to help fund the completion of the Highlands to Islands (H2i) Trail, a multi-use path that will connect several cities within Hall County, including Gainesville, Oakwood and Flowery Branch. As public usage of the trails increases, this connector will unify all paths through the system under one name. “The completion of the Gainesville Connector will provide invaluable recreational benefits for Gainesville and communities,” said Tom Sanders, Pilgrim’s Gainesville Complex Manager.

Pilgrim’s Announces Recipient of Hometown Strong Funding in Ellijay, Ga.

Pilgrim’s is providing an update on how funds are being invested in Ellijay, Ga., to support the community’s future through the company’s Hometown Strong program. In September 2020, Pilgrim’s announced a $535,000 investment in the community. In partnership with Gilmer County Board of Education, Pilgrim’s will provide $400,000 to construct a Broiler Farm Research Facility for Gilmer County FFA programs. The research facility will be a fully operational broiler farm complete with all necessary equipment to simulate a commercial broiler operation and will be managed with expectations and best practices used by growers who contract with Pilgrim’s.

Pilgrim’s Carrollton recently presented a $22,100 check to the Carroll County Soup Kitchen to purchase and install a walk-in freezer, which will help to alleviate food insecurity in the community. “In addition to regular donations of chicken products to the Carroll County Soup Kitchen, I’m proud that Pilgrim’s Carrollton can lend a helping hand by donating a new freezer that will enable the organization to feed even more community members,” said Ricky Walker, Pilgrim’s Carrollton complex manager.

Building on its ongoing sustainability and social responsibility efforts, Pilgrim’s today announced plans to invest $160,000 in Elberton, Ga., to support the community’s future and help respond to needs resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. Pilgrim’s worked with local leaders to identify where the funds can best help meet immediate and longer-term community needs. The company has selected two Hometown Strong funding recipients – the Blackwell Community Center and Elbert Memorial Hospital. Pilgrim’s is providing $117,000 to the Blackwell Community Center to upgrade its community classrooms and the gymnasium. The company is also contributing $33,000 to Elbert Memorial Hospital for COVID-19 projects that include providing PPE, renovating nurses’ stations and the patient registration area, and adding glass walls and doors to better protect staff and patients.
