JBS Cactus Aquatic Center Funded Through Hometown Strong Now Open to the Community

JBS USA is providing an update on how its Hometown Strong funds are being invested in Cactus, Texas. The company has worked closely with local leaders to identify how best to meet immediate and longer-term community needs.

Of a $3.3 million initial investment in Moore County, JBS USA contributed $500,000 to construct the Cactus Aquatic Center, a state-of-the-art public aquatics and recreational facility, for the community.

In November 2020, Pilgrim’s announced a $685,000 investment in Lufkin, Texas, to support the community’s future through the company’s Hometown Strong program. Pilgrim’s has been working with local leaders to determine where the funds could best help meet immediate and longer-term community needs. In partnership with Kurth Primary School and the Lufkin Independent School District, Pilgrim’s today announced it will provide $30,000 to purchase 25 picnic tables for outdoor eating areas to improve social distancing capabilities while at school, especially during lunch.

Building on its ongoing sustainability and social responsibility efforts, Pilgrim’s today announced plans to invest $685,000 in Lufkin, Texas, to support the community’s future. Pilgrim’s has been working with local leaders to identify where the funds can best help meet immediate and longer-term community needs in three key areas: food insecurity, community infrastructure and well-being, and COVID-19 emergency response and relief efforts. Two projects have already been selected to receive funding. Pilgrim’s is partnering with the Salvation Army of Lufkin, and a $500,000 contribution will be used to upgrade and renovate the community gymnasium. Additionally, Pilgrim’s is investing $30,000 to provide the Kurth Primary School with picnic tables for use outdoors to improve social distancing capabilities while children are at school.
